After a couple of years' has finally been translated and given to the press in Italy "Rangers. By hunters to the global civilization" (original Pathfinders: a Global History of Exploration) Felipe Fernández-Armesto.
The last book of the author '(the professor at Tufts University in Boston) for "Millennium" is like a large overview of the human race, from the point of view of geographical exploration. The book is well written and comprehensive. Fernandez Armesto is not limited to narrate the 'era of big business and of' European expansion, but began his career by involuntary exploration of the 'dawn of mankind that led us to populate the world.
While many such books have focused only quick skim of the European discoveries of the last 500-600 years at most (which, however, Fernandez Armesto explains very well and clearly) in this book you can find a story 'with truly global and omnicompresiva .
