Sunday, October 17 was held just for fun a little gathering of two passionate dell'Ovation. After several attempts my friend Luke D. came to see me and we have put together a small event under the watchful eyes of their wives (whom we thank not only for food but for the patience). In addition to the various information exchange noramalmente fans, Luke brought his two gems, a beautiful legend 1617 (with a bracing VT) and an amazing Custom Legend 1619 (A bracied). Both in sunburst.
I fielded my mini collection, with pieces such as vintage Deluxe Balladeer a shiny box, but the most important (and fun) was to explore with the sound differences that exist between a model and another and between different types of bracing. As well as the jump time between the models of the early dell'Ovation and those just out. What can I say, we spent a beautiful afternoon to play, touch, look, take pictures .......
experience to be repeated and, if we succeed, to be extended to all European OFCers a real European Ovation Fan Club Gathering. Who knows, maybe in 2011 .......

Matrix

Applause parallel to the project, which was ready for the launch of the June 1975 NAMM (but all'Ovation hesitated and the applause was born in 1976 collection all'Adamas), also gave birth at home Ovation guitar its twin, the Matrix.
Initially the new model was named Medallion. It was not past a year due to problems of trademark (the name was already registered by a small dealer of Michigan), the guitar was renamed Matrix. People who bought a Medallion of 1976 today is certainly a rarity in hand.
The Matrix was identical with the only differences in the applause of the blade (peghead) and walnut bridge, which were so to speak-like Ovation. The first guitars had produced the classic Ovation logo printed on the headstock and the name just seemed to Matrix label. Later, the Matrix brand to replace the Ovation also went on the headstock. In 1976, the Matrix was launched at a price of $ 249.
The bowl was the same as the applause and the top laminate had a solid spruce bracing similar to the "A" of the bigger models, but designed specifically for Applause and The Matrix. The top was panelmaster C-series, with 3 layers. It may seem strange but the Matrix (as Applause) are guitars that sound really good. The similarity with the project Adamas is also obvious why the latter, ultimately, have the top consists of two layers of carbon fiber and a birch ..... !
